Seize The Moment

Carpe Diem?

Sometimes in life you just have to seize the moment.

And when you seize the moment, God will open up opportunities to you on your journey in life.

I have experienced this truth so many times. I remember driving in the car in San Diego years ago with my precious mother-in-law, Eloise, and I saw crowds gathering. I suddenly realized that the Olympic torch was passing our way. I drove to a place I knew would offer a great view, parked, and said, “Come on, Eloise, let’s catch a view of the Olympic torch!” Excitedly, she followed me, and we stood on the hill watching the runner with the torch.

Carpe Diem. Really!

Recently I was driving on the freeway on my way to San Diego for a weekend photo shoot with my wildlife photography mentor, Laurie Rubin, a Master with Trey Ratcliff’s Arcanum photography mentoring program. And as I drove by the Marine Air Corp Station — Miramar, suddenly the famous Navy’s Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron flew right across the freeway! The rush of the jet engines was deafening. It took my breath away. And I saw that these Blue Angels were flying all sorts of patterns over the sky, practicing for the Air Show the following day. I looked to my right and I saw ahead that a group of people had gathered watching the amazing sight on the side of the road. So I pulled off the freeway at the next exit, parked with all my new friends, grabbed my Nikon with an 80-400mm lens and started shooting as many photos as I could. We all had the time of our lives. What a show by these pilots! And I got to share all about how the Lord had gotten me there at that precise moment. What a great opportunity to share an amazing experience with some new friends.

Paul says, “Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:15-16).

I love those words from Paul, and they have guided me through the years. You know, I could have kept driving. But when you look at the photos I’ve included here, you will see what I would have missed. I was in awe at the power and the amazing expertise of these pilots. But it makes me even more amazed about God — He is all-powerful and all-wise and He created the universe. Let us bow in humble adoration and worship today.

So the next time you have an opportunity open up to you, seize the moment.

God bless you dear friend, as you continue on in the great adventure of knowing Him.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
