The Blood Red Moon

Do you feel like sometimes you would just love to see a glimpse of God’s glory?

Something that will just take your breath away and cause you to stand still and worship your Lord?

I experienced this very feeling early on the morning of October 8, 2014, beginning at 2:30 a.m. PDT. I had the privilege of witnessing and photographing the final lunar eclipse of 2014 for the Pacific West Coast.

God’s creation constantly speaks of His glory. The message is continuous and we can hear it again and again if we will stop long enough to listen.

The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Psalm 19:1

When you stop and listen, you will be moved and changed. God invites you to experience Him when He says, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

It was pitch black — a surprisingly clear night sky in the Coachella valley desert of California. The night was silent. I was still, waiting patiently, drinking in the moment. I had my Nikon D800E camera set up on a tripod with my 80-400mm lens, hands poised on my camera trigger, desperate to catch these amazing images as they progressed relentlessly in panorama. And oh, what glory I witnessed! It is an amazing sight to watch the moon in all of its phases in a lunar eclipse, especially when the moon seemingly caught on fire in a glowing red vibrance. And then it was over, perhaps a once in a lifetime event for me and my short existence on earth.

So this event was for me also a great reminder and remembrance for the great and glorious day of the Lord sometime in the future. God says, “I will grant wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come. And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Acts 2:19-21).

The greatest decision we will ever make is to call on the name of the Lord and receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life. If you do not know Him yet, then please don’t wait another moment. You can pray a prayer something like this: Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I ask You now to come into my life, forgive my sins, and make me the person You want me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God bless you dear friend, as you continue on in the great adventure of knowing Him.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
