Out On The Water

Have you discovered the great adventure of a life of faith?

Maybe you’ve gotten out of the boat and you’re walking by faith out there on the water. And you’ve discovered along with Peter that when the wind is blowing hard, your heart starts racing, and the fear begins to challenge your faith.

The truth is that the waves may blow about with the winds of adversity. Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

I think these words from Jesus help us understand the life of faith out on the water. We will experience tribulation, but we can have peace in Jesus, for He has overcome the world. What we learn is that nothing is too great for Jesus. No trial, no challenge, no financial difficulty, no feelings of insecurity, no loss is too much for Jesus to take care of and carry in your life. He is greater. He has every answer and all provision. He is your security today. Oh I am drinking in the truth of that even now.

I had the wonderful opportunity to go on a photoshoot with my wildlife photography mentor, Laurie Rubin, a Master with Trey Ratcliff’s Arcanum photography mentoring program, at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. She taught me so many invaluable photography lessons in one day including how to use a monopod, how to capture gestures of animals, how to time the image captures of ducks, and so much more. I loved this particular duck because of the apparent peace and calm as it appeared to float on the water. Its webbed feet seemed to effortlessly propel it forward through the water slowly and surely.

We can learn a lesson from this beautiful creation of God — trust Jesus in tribulation and experience His peace out on the water.

I love the promise in Philippians 4:6-7 —

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

These words have been on my heart so much lately. I can thank the Lord for all He has done even when I don’t understand or cannot see through the fog of adversity. Why? Because God is working out a magnificent plan that is still in process. He is unfolding it day by day. And He has things on His mind and in His plan that I may not see or understand right now. Thankfulness is an action of faith out there on the water. But it is a great secret to experiencing His peace in the midst of storms. We can thank Him for His presence and for all He is doing. We can thank Him for His promises in His Word. We can thank Him for His plan. His peace will guard our hearts out there on the water as we follow His guidance along the way.

So today, dear friend, don’t be surprised by storms on the water. Instead, take courage from the presence of Jesus and swim confidently in His peace. And get ready for the adventure of walking with Jesus as He surprises you with His power and plan in your life.

God bless you dear friend, as you continue on in the great adventure of knowing Him.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
