Kelby Photo Walk @ San Diego Zoo

Try it, you’ll like it!

If you haven’t had the chance to go on Scott Kelby’s Annual Worldwide Photo Walk, you’re missing a wonderful photographic experience.

I had the opportunity to participate in the Scott Kelby Annual Worldwide Photo Walk at The San Diego Zoo on October 11, 2014, and it was a blast. Great photographers, terrific location, and great fun!

The San Diego Zoo photo walk was led by none other than professional photographer and post-processing guru, Laurie Rubin, Senior Education Manager at Macphun Software. Laurie Rubin is an international award-winning photographer specializing in nature and landscape photography. Most recently Laurie won 1st place in the Windland Smith Rice International Awards for the Zoo and Aquarium category. Her image is in the Fall Awards issue of Nature’s Best and is displayed at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. As she says, “Photography, nature, wildlife and finding happiness along the way … that’s what I’m all about!”

We started the day with the apes and orangutans and systematically wound our way under Laurie’s expert guidance until we had photographed just about every animal in the jungle. The photos in this quick gallery are all courtesy of my Second Body (that would be my husband — Canon Power Shot S95), but I promise to process some great shots with my Nikon D800E and post them in individual posts in the future.

We concluded with lunch at Sydney’s Grill, Australia, and a share all session with our motley crew. A fine day all around!

Much thanks and appreciation to my friend, Laurie Rubin, my Trey Ratclif’s Arcanum mentor. You’re the best!

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!

P.S. Each year there is a Walker’s Competition for the Best Photo. This year’s Grand Prize chosen by Scott Kelby from among the 20,148 participants went to Michal’s Warszawa, Mazowieckie Polskaa spectacular image of a fountain in Warsaw, Poland, a spray of water drops magically suspended in air. Scott describes it as a “100% emotional response.”

About Scott Kelby’s Annual Worldwide Photo Walk 2014

On October 11, 2014, over 20,000 walkers from countries all over the world took to the streets to participate in Scott Kelby’s Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. Even after the seventh year, the outpouring of camaraderie and creativity still continues to amaze us. On top of the participation, we’re even more humbled by the success of this year’s “Walk with a Purpose” initiative, which raised over $34,000 for Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya. Thanks to the generosity of our photo walkers, we raised more dollars than we had walkers and tripled our efforts from years past.
