Photo Discovery Challenge

I put together a group of photos for an Arcanum Challenge as part of requirements to level up on The Arcanum online photographic academy where I am apprenticed to world famous photographer, Laurie Rubin, my master and mentor, under the cohort of Wildlife and Nature Photography. Each section or level in The Arcanum infrastructure of learning has special assignments, critiques or challenges for the Apprentices like myself. This gallery displays the photos I submitted for this challenge.

The Level 6 Challenge — Photo Discovery — Name In Nature

Fun challenge!

I had to find the letters of my name in nature. No man-made objects could be used. This exercise really made me open my eyes to the shapes in the world around me.

Catherine in letters. Hah!

I did it while shooting the sunrise in the desert two days ago (except for the A in my backyard). Everything is the way I saw it there just after sunrise. Lots of pastels and varied lighting. It was so beautiful out there. What a great challenge for a photographer. I liked the whole idea of discovering all the letters in nature. It was stimulating. Now I notice the shapes of natural objects more and more which is a great result of this challenge. I spent a long time in the desert landscape at my home shooting area in Palm Desert, CA, but I just couldn’t find an “A.” Frustrated, I went home and almost immediately saw an “A” out there in my backyard and I got a great capture of it.

It’s amazing what you can find in the desert!

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
