Finding The Ways Of The Lord

What direction are you traveling in life right now?

Are you on the journey with the Lord, learning His ways, and walking closely with Him?

Or are you feeling lost in the wilderness, overwhelmed with trials and troubles?

The Lord poses this question encouraging you to pray as you are at the crossroads —

This is what the LORD says, “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.
Jeremiah 6:16 NIV

I think about these words for myself nearing any life milestones. I want the good way of the Lord. I want to walk in it and I certainly want to find rest for my own soul. Oh how we need rest in the midst of a life filled with busyness and noise. That word for rest in Jeremiah 6:16 means a state of refreshment and life, and a renewal of one’s life and soul. Don’t you long for a renewal of your soul?

Here is my prayer and it’s found in Psalm 25 —

Show me Your ways, LORD, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. Remember, LORD, Your great mercy and love.
Psalm 25:4-6 NIV

Dear friend, when you pray this prayer, do it with an open Bible and an open heart. The Lord will shine His light on His Word, and give you just the right promise for whatever you are facing at the outset of your new venture. He will show you His ways and teach you His paths. He will guide you in His truth and teach you. And you can have hope — holding on with patient expectation. Whether you feel hopeful or not, your hope does not reside in yourself, but in God and His promises — both can never fail, for God is completely trustworthy and will keep His promise. We have great feet of clay and often cannot see the light of day in the present darkness of trials and losses. But God and His Word remain true, regardless of how we feel.

F.B. Meyer encourages us in just such difficulties — “Let us, by our Fore-runner, send forward our anchor, Hope, within the veil that parts us from the unseen; where it will grapple in ground and will not yield, but hold until the day dawns, and we follow it into the haven guaranteed to us by God’s immutable counsel.”

Our hope is truly in the Lord and not anything else. And when we discover this truth, and depend wholeheartedly on all He says in His Word, then we are finding the ways of the Lord, and we will experience rest for our souls.

So dear friend, may you discover anew the ways of the Lord, and find rest for your soul.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
