WOW Faith OLS — Week Six #2

What is your greatest need today?

Whatever it is, the Lord is with you! You can draw near to Him by faith and rest in all He promises you!

Little did Annie Hawks, a young wife and mother, who wrote the words of I Need Thee Every Hour, know that one day the very words would minister to her own heart when she lost her husband.

We have been studying the heroes of the faith in the book of Judges. Oh how I loved the example of Jephthah who launched out in faith even when everything was seemingly against him.

God gives us a great promise in light of just such a time. “If God is for us, who is against us” (Romans 8:31).

Oh how I have loved studying the amazing work of God in the lives of simple men and women who dared to get out of the boat and trust God by faith. Oh yes, they could have lived in the fear and worry and panic of their life situation. But no. Instead, they got out of the boat and believed God.

And we must do the same. Let’s all learn a powerful lesson that walk on water faith does not sit in the boat. There are plenty of earthly reasons to wallow in fear and worry. But God is the One Great Reason to stand up, get out of the boat, and have full confidence in all He promises. Oh there is great power, infinite power, in God and His promises.

I love these words by Spurgeon —

Dear one, you scarcely realize the value of your present opportunity, if you are passing through great afflictions you are in the very soul of the strongest faith, and if you will only let go, He will teach you in these hours the mightiest hold upon His throne which you can ever know.
Charles Haddon Spurgeon

So today, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. He is greater than anything you face today.

Dear friend, I love studying God’s Word together with you.

Luke 5:16 NASB — But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
Walk On Water Faith — A Quiet Time Experience

Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
— Matthew 14:28-31 NASB

Biblical faith is a gift of God. God has given us a measure of faith, according to Romans 12:3. And it is not humanly manufactured but God-given and God-enabled through the power of His Spirit (Galatians 2:20, 5:22). … When Peter realized the Lord was out there walking on the water, he expressed boldness in his faith by asking the Lord to bring him out on the water. How many of us actually dare to dream such majestic feats of faith as Peter did that early morning in the stormy waters?
