WOW Faith OLS — Week Seven #1

Do you realize that God has a plan and purpose for your life?

You are not here by accident; you are here on purpose — God’s purpose.

One of the great discoveries in life is understanding just how much God loves and cares for you.

In Psalm 37:23 we discover that “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”

In Week 7, Days 1-3 of Walk On Water Faith, we studied the lives of three heroes of the faith — Samuel, David, and Isaiah. Each man of God had a distinct purpose in God’s plan. And each step of their lives required faith.

Samuel was a prophet and a judge. David was king over God’s people. And Isaiah was God’s prophet in one of the most difficult times in Israel’s history.

I love the words of Alan Redpath —

So often the providences of God seem to run completely counter to His promises, but only that He may test our faith, only that He may ultimately accomplish His purpose for our lives in a way that He could never do if the path were always smooth … It isn’t easy to walk with God, for the air at that height is somewhat rare. It is pure, but sometimes it is hard to breathe, and faith almost gives up in the attempt to keep pace with God’s way with His child.
Alan Redpath, The Making of a Man of God

I think these words are very important for us to understand in our journey of faith where we are learning to walk by faith, not by sight. The life of faith is, as Oswald Chambers says, “a fight always, not sometimes.”

I believe it helps to realize God’s plan and purpose for your life. How wonderful to be able to look over the vast expanse of the great heroes of the faith listed in Hebrews 11 and realize the magnificent ways that God used them for His glory.

Perhaps your faith is being challenged right now. Get out of the boat and trust all God’s promises. You will discover His faithfulness every step of the way. Wait on the Lord. Delight in Him. Rest in the Lord. And watch Him work in your heart, empowering and equipping you for all He calls you to do in life.

Dear friend, I love studying God’s Word together with you.

Luke 5:16 NASB — But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
Walk On Water Faith — A Quiet Time Experience

Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
— Matthew 14:28-31 NASB

Biblical faith is a gift of God. God has given us a measure of faith, according to Romans 12:3. And it is not humanly manufactured but God-given and God-enabled through the power of His Spirit (Galatians 2:20, 5:22). … When Peter realized the Lord was out there walking on the water, he expressed boldness in his faith by asking the Lord to bring him out on the water. How many of us actually dare to dream such majestic feats of faith as Peter did that early morning in the stormy waters?
