By Faith Not Sight

So you’ve said “Yes Lord” and you got out of the boat to follow Jesus.

You’re out on the water. And now you’re realizing that life outside the boat is not exactly what you imagined.

There are no clear paths on the water. But Jesus is there and He is saying “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).

In those words you see that He has a plan and purpose for your life though you may not see all the steps and paths along the way.

When He asks you to follow Him, He is also promising He will lead you. May that promise encourage you today. I love the words from Streams in the Desert

It is faith without sight. When we can see, it is not faith, but reasoning. In crossing the Atlantic we observed this very principle of faith. We saw no path upon the sea, nor sign of the shore. And yet day by day we were marking our path upon the chart as exactly as if there had followed us a great chalk line upon the sea. And when we came within twenty miles of land, we knew where we were as exactly as if we had seen it all three thousand miles ahead. How had we measured and marked our course? Day by day our captain had taken his instruments and, looking up to the sky, had fixed his course by the sun. He was sailing by the heavenly, not the earthly lights. So faith looks up and sails on, by God’s great Sun, not seeing one shore line or earthly lighthouse or path upon the way. Often its steps seem to lead into utter uncertainty, and even darkness and disaster; but He opens the way, and often makes such midnight hours the very gates of day. Let us go forth this day, not knowing, but trusting.
Mrs. Charles Cowman, Streams in the Desert

Do you find you and your faith out on the water today as you follow Jesus? Charles Spurgeon says, “On your part, this is the time to exercise faith. On His part, now is the time for the display of His power.”

Dear friend, always remember that we walk by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Today may you grab on to God and His Word, follow His promises and commands as your map for life, and then follow Jesus as He leads you and makes you a fisher of men and women!

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
