Vision In The Desert

The early morning light fell softly across the desert landscape.

I could see the sunrise was filled with promise — one of those rare mornings I could not resist — I had to grab my camera and Bible and go to the desert to walk with the Lord.

I set up my tripod and Nikon D810 camera choosing to face the west even though the sun was rising in the east. Sometimes the best view comes from an unexpected direction. And indeed the glow lit up the clouds in the west as they hung low over Mt. San Jacinto.

I have noticed a similar experience with the Lord when we are in a desert place. Often He gives a big vision in times of difficulty and trial. In the desert place our sights are more acute and our hearing more seasoned and tuned in to all the Lord has to show us and to say to us in His Word.

Isaiah, the prophet, heard from the Lord about about how He would work in the desert place —

When the poor and needy search for water and there is none, and their tongues are parched from thirst, then I, the LORD, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will never abandon them. I will open up rivers for them on the high plateaus. I will give them fountains of water in the valleys. I will fill the desert with pools of water. Rivers fed by springs will flow across the parched ground. I will plant trees in the barren desert—cedar, acacia, myrtle, olive, cypress, fir, and pine. I am doing this so all who see this miracle will understand what it means—that it is the LORD who has done this, the Holy One of Israel who created it.
Isaiah 41:17-20

Isaiah was granted a new and glorious view from God about filling the desert with pools of water. Imagine the joy and hope such a vision gave him in the midst of some very difficult circumstances. The words were filled with promise and purpose.

And that’s what happens when God fills our lives with His vision. We are given His promise and a new and greater sense of purpose. And the view He gives results in ministry where He touches lives in and through us. His Word says that “where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). Vision is absolutely imperative in ministry.

In recent days the Lord has been filling my heart with a new and greater Vision For The World through Quiet Time Ministries. I am going to share my heart in a very special event video message entitled Vision For The World, due for release on The Quiet Time Live Channel – YouTube and at Vision For The World Video on Quiet Time Ministries, and on all Quiet Time Ministries social media outlets this coming Wednesday, October 7, 2015. As a free gift, I will also be sharing the first of four messages of a new educational and inspirational A Heart For Ministry video series, entitled A Heart For Ministry — The Great Commandment Of Ministry. I am so excited to see what God is going to do as a result. I look forward to sharing with thousands all for the glory of God!

So, dear friend, today I encourage you to draw near to the Lord if you are in the desert place. And listen for Him to speak in His Word, giving you a new and glorious vision. And be sure to join me on Wednesday for a Vision For The World!

God bless you as you continue on in the great adventure of knowing Him.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
