Beautiful Like A Rose

I love the beauty of roses.

There is something so delicate and artistic about a rose.

When I look at the design of the petals, I am immediately reminded about how the Lord gives us His beauty. We are His workmanship created with great purpose.

He tells us this amazing truth in Ephesians 2:10 —

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Look at that little phrase “in Christ Jesus.” Oh there is a lot of truth and power packed in that phrase. We are in Christ Jesus. His beauty is what makes us beautiful. In Galatians 2:20 we see that Christ lives in us. And His beauty shines in and through us and it is a glorious beauty made possible through the Holy Spirit. In 2 Corinthians 4:6 we see how the very light of Jesus Christ shines in us: “For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Do you see, dear friend, how very beautiful you are? Beautiful like a rose. He has promised beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3). Oh the beauty of the Lord is more than we can imagine. He is loving and compassionate, perfect and powerful. He is our shepherd and the light of the world. He is everything we need for every circumstance of life. More beautiful than the most beautiful of all roses is the Lord Jesus Christ! And He has made you beautiful. He promises to make everything beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NKJV).

Charles Spurgeon shares about the beauty of the Lord in us —

He makes the unsullied garment of His life our covering beauty; the glittering virtues of His character our ornaments and jewels; and the superhuman meekness of His death our boast and glory…The Lord’s admiration of His Church is very wonderful, and His description of her beauty is very glowing…He views her in Himself, washed in his sin-atoning blood and clothed in His meritorious righteousness, and He considers her to be full of comeliness and beauty.
Charles Haddon Spurgeon in Morning and Evening

If Jesus thinks you are beautiful and calls you “God’s masterpiece,” can you think anything less?

Today, look at the rose, and remember how very beautiful you are in the Lord.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
