James 1:2-4

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
James 1:2-4 NLT
George Mueller was once asked the best way to have strong faith. “The only way to learn strong faith is to endure great trials. I have learned my faith by standing firm amid severe testings,” replied Mueller, a great hero of faith…The Bible speaks about tests of faith. These are the times when the truth of God and all He promises in His Word is challenged in our emotions and life circumstances. Trials are tests of faith for they challenge our belief in God’s promises of power, His love, and His purpose for our lives. Do we believe that nothing is too hard for God? Do we believe Him when He says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3). Do we believe that He does have a plan for our welfare and not for calamity (Jeremiah 29:11)? Or are we afraid and ready to run for our very lives? We may easily have faith in these truths when the sun is shining, but what about when the storm of trouble rolls our way…James, the brother of Jesus, acknowledged these tests of faith when he wrote, “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:3-4). Here we see that tests of faith actually make us stronger in our faith. Our endurance grows and we mature, and are able to walk through even more difficult trials.
