More Than Enough Grace

God promises grace sufficient for anything that comes our way in life.

He says, “My grace is sufficient for you” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

This means that God has you covered no matter what. It’s His promise.

It was 110 degrees in the shade, even the asphalt was melting on the parking lot of the Texaco Truck Stop near Blythe, California. I stepped on the gas – nothing. No momentum, no push. Powertrain failure. A 100 mile tow to Palm Desert, CA, was definitely in my immediate future. Packed with gear from a myPhotoWalk photo shoot in Sedona, Arizona, my car had suddenly broken down in the desolate desert of Southern California. I had no idea what was really wrong with it, but God knew. And in the heat of the trial, I had to completely rely on God’s grace. And I found His grace to be sufficient. He promises. His grace reaches into the far away and near corners of our lives. Whatever comes our way, wherever God leads us, and in all He plans for us to accomplish, He gives enough grace to cover it.

Here’s a great truth about God’s promises according to H.W. Webb-Peploe, a senior parish priest in the 1800’s at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London: Never turn God’s facts into hopes, or prayers, but simply use them as realities, and you will find them powerful as you believe them.

Peploe calls God’s promises God’s facts. Never forget that. They are not wishes or wants but truth and reality. Once we get that straight, we will not ask for the promise to be true, but we will count on it to be true. There’s a great difference and it will revolutionize your relationship with God.

I have found that my memory is short and I need to be reminded again and again about the reality of God’s promises. I am thankful for the Holy Spirit’s teaching and encouragement to bring the Word of God into my life, my mind, and apply it to my difficulties and trials.

God’s grace is more than enough and we can count on it. God promises this reality about His grace —

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed. NASB God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. THE MESSAGE
2 Corinthians 9:8

Oswald Chambers writes in his book, God’s Workmanship —

We have to keep in the light as God is in the light and the grace of God will supply supernatural life all the time. Thank God there is no end to His grace if we will keep in the humble place. The overflowing grace of God has no limits, and we have to set no limits to it, but “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).”
Oswald Chambers in God’s Workmanship

In the heat of my trials, I find that my mind can go wild with a thousand “what if’s” and “if only’s.” There is a discipline and training of the mind, to turn its attention to the reality, the truth, and the fact of God’s promise in His Word. And so, in the heat of my trial with my car, I prayed, “Lord, please help me get the car fixed, provide for whatever it costs, and cover every single thing related to this with Your abundant provision and grace.” Well, we were able to get that tow truck, the car got fixed, and I had enough to pay for the repairs. Thank You Lord!

God’s grace is enough for what you face today and it will be enough for what you face tomorrow. Again, there is the temptation to worry about what is around the corner and wonder how you will make it. But instead of looking ahead or behind, look up – at God and His grace – more than enough at every place along the way in your journey with Him. How can you do that? Walk closely with Him, dear friend. Carry His Word with you, open its pages, live in it, and talk with your Lord about what He says. Pour out your heart to Him. And listen for His voice as He speaks His promises from the Bible. He is faithful through the Holy Spirit to remind you of those great promises just when you need them most.

I love the words of my favorite Christian poet, Annie Johnson Flint, and they feed my soul today—

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
Annie Johnson Flint

Dear friend, perhaps you are in the heat of impossible trials where you don’t have the answers. Run to God and rely on His grace. He is the only One who knows the way through and out to the other side of every obstacle, mountain, bump and bend in the road.

Lord Jesus, we live in the light of Your presence and swim in the unfathomable ocean of Your overflowing grace. Thank You for Your all-sufficient and abundant provision for everything we face today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
