When God Paints The Sky

For all the times when your heart is broken, when you are doubting and discouraged, when you doubt what is right and true, there is always something amazing and beautiful to encourage your faith.

Just go outside early in the morning before sunrise and look up to the sky.

You might even still see some stars shining through dawn’s dark canvas.

If there are clouds, get ready to see the colors and glow take form and shape all across the sky, as God begins His new work of art.

And when God paints the sky, you are seeing the Master Designer in action, and for a moment in time, you are catching a glimpse of His glory.

It’s right there before our very eyes. Day after day. One of the greatest defenses of the faith — God’s creation.

David, the man after God’s own heart, found great solace in God at work in creation —

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race. The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.
Psalm 19:1-6 NLT

What difference would it make for you to sit down with God, the Creator of the Universe, and hear what He has to say to you?

That’s really what David was getting at in Psalm 19. He was saying that God has spoken. David continues on in Psalm 19 to talk about how God speaks in His Word —

The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living. Reverence for the LORD is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.
Psalm 19:7-10 NLT

So when God paints the sky, He is speaking…to you and to me. He is reminding us every day that the beautiful work of art there in the sky is declaring His glory. When God paints the sky, it’s a reminder that He has spoken. And that truth should carry you to the next important fact. You have His Word in written form in the Bible. His Word is filled with magnificent, life-transforming promises. You can indeed know what God is thinking, how He works, and who He is by opening the pages of the Bible every day and living there. Drink in every line and word. Be like Jeremiah who said, “Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts” (Jeremiah 15:16). Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you (James 4:8).

So be encouraged, dear friend, today, no matter where you are or what you are going through in life. Look up at the sunrise! When you see God paint that sky with clouds and color, remember who He is, and what He has promised for you in His Word.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
