The Landscape Of Truth

What have you been thinking about lately?

What are the thoughts that you dwell on most of the time?

It’s an important question because, according to the Bible, “as he thinks within himself, so he is” (Proverbs 23:7). Our thinking has a strong relationship to who we are and the person we are becoming.

No wonder Paul encouraged the believers at Philippi, who were experiencing a season of suffering, to “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise” (Philippians 4:8 NLT).

If we want to fix our thoughts on what is true, then the most important thing we can do is open the pages of God’s Word and live there. God’s Word is truth, according to Jesus (John 17:17). We need to travel through God’s Word as we would traverse the landscape of beautiful places like this scene on a sunny afternoon in Tuscany, Italy.

The landscape of truth in God’s Word feeds hungry souls and soothes hurting hearts. Truth helps you think rightly about all things.

We have the tendency to jump to untrue conclusions and tell false stories to ourselves. How many times have you reacted to a situation by exclaiming, “Oh no”, and imagined that it was all over, only to discover that you didn’t have the facts right?

Yes, sometimes the situation is seemingly impossible. You don’t have the answers. But again, the landscape of truth in God’s Word will help you gain a new view. God does promise many things that are absolutely true — He will help you (Isaiah 41:10), He will provide for you (Philippians 4:19), and He will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep walking across the landscape of those powerful truths and you will discover that your thinking will be taken to a different level. And as God changes the way you think, He changes you. Transformation is the result of changed thinking, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

One of my favorite verses these days is Romans 12:2 —

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2 NLT

So dear friend, take some time today, and walk across the landscape of truth in God’s Word. Fix your gaze on the beauty found there in the pages of your Bible. And enjoy the view all along the way.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
