Walking With The God Who Cares OLS — Week Four

Have you ever longed for someone to come alongside, see your innermost hopes and dreams, know and love you deeply, and do a mighty work on your behalf with your very best interests at heart?

Friends, you have that and so much more in your Lord.

This week, in our study of Walking with the God Who Cares, we looked at promises about what God does. These are promises that give you such hope and assurance no matter what you are experiencing in life.

He is at work in you, according to Philippians 1:6, and that assures you that He will use everything for His master design. You are His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10) and He has great plans and purposes for you. Never doubt it for a moment.

And then, He intercedes for you (Hebrews 7:25). This has been such a blessing for me to think about this week. Knowing I have the Lord Himself representing me in matters related to God (see Hebrews 5:1) is a great comfort. I am not alone, no, not ever! So if you are feeling alone these days, then friend, take heart, and know that your feelings are not the facts. The facts are in God’s Word and we know that He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). He promises.

Sometimes in life we might just come to the conclusion, “I don’t see how I can do it. I don’t see how I can make it through.” If you ever have that thought, then think again. Memorize Philippians 4:13 —

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13

I remember hearing a pastor say one time, “All means all and that’s all all means.” I love that! It means that His strength is equal and more for everything you are experiencing in life. Nothing is too much for Him! Praise the Lord!

God gives and gives and gives abundantly to His children. According to Ephesians 1:3, He has “blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” In this world, such a high premium is placed on money and possessions. But there is something worth far more, and dear friend, you have it. You have an inheritance that nothing can touch. You are wealthy beyond the measure of this world. Fix your thoughts on that for a day and see how it changes your perspective. You move from the temporal to the eternal perspective.

The Lord produces fruit in our life as we abide in Him (John 15). This is an exciting and profound work. I have been giving this much thought. I think we need to understand that sometimes the Lord will show us the fruit. And other times, only heaven will tell the whole story of what He is doing in and through you. If you don’t see it right now, then understand that His Word tells the truth, and you trust that truth by faith.

And so, these are some of the promises of what God does in our lives. Your hope will grow stronger as you focus on what you know is true according to God’s magnificent promises.

As you think about these truths, I wonder which one meant the most to you this week? The significant one is most likely some of what God is teaching you and using to build your hope in Him.

As we realize the work of the Lord in our lives, we are filled anew with the desire to love, serve, and follow Him all the days of our lives —

Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee. Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love, at the impulse of Thy love. Take my love, my God, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store. Take myself and I will be ever, only all for Thee, ever, only all for Thee.
Fanny Crosby

Dear friend, may you be encouraged to find hope in what God does today. He loves you. Carry the promises of God with you wherever you go today.

My prayer and my goal for all of us is found in Romans 15:13 —

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 NLT

Oh how I pray, dear friend, for your life to be filled with hope as you discover the powerful and magnificent promises of God.

Catherine Martin has written an excellent book about God walking with you no matter what the circumstances. I particularly liked the use of acronyms throughout the pages. Hope is holding on with patient expectation. Catherine Martin has a very easy to read and understand writing style. She does an excellent job in utilizing scripture verses and references to other people’s work to bring her points across.
Lori Plach, ReaderViews, Amazon.com Book Review
[Catherine Martin] brings to her writing the extra energy she has in her life. … She isn’t speaking from theological theory only but also from experiences she has lived. … In a marvelous way, she walks you through 30 days of hope-building studies. You might feel as if you have little hope, but as Catherine guides you through Scripture, you will experience great assurance and the hope that is only found in Jesus.
