Prayer

*** myPhotoWalk — Photo Artistry ***

Springtime is especially glorious at sunrise in the California desert.

I love this time of year when the wildflowers bloom in abundance, and I take full advantage of the beauty on a myPhotoWalk with my Nikon D810 and Sony A6000 cameras.

I often stroll among the flowers capturing images with specialty lenses such as the Nikkor 24-120mm, Micro-Nikkor 200mm, Lensbaby Velvet 56. You can tell I’ve been out there shooting macro and special composition shots just by looking at my shoes covered with yellow pollen flowing from all those beautiful flowers.

One particular morning, I had already captured the sunrise washing the field of wildflowers carpeting the desert floor, so I prepared to leave. But then I noticed this one sparkling yellow flower on my way back to the car. It was actually quite small in comparison, but so beautiful and perfect all by itself. It seemed to beckon me to capture its image. So I put my Lensbaby Velvet 56 on my Nikon D810 knowing that lens would allow me to get close enough to capture the detail. I used a fairly large aperture, f/2.5, because I wanted to get the amazing glow that the Velvet 56 gives an image. I spent a long time on composition trying to get the background bokeh just right.

I was so happy with the final result when I finally pulled it into Photoshop that I knew I must create a Photo Artistry image focusing on prayer. There is just something about this flower reaching out to the sun that makes me think of prayer. And just that very morning, I had read Psalm 25:1 in my quiet time. So the Lord really put this idea together for me, beginning in my quiet time, and then extending on into myPhotoWalk with Him out in the desert.

To process, I began in Adobe Camera Raw, adding clarity, boosting the shadows, and lowering the highlights. Then, in Photoshop, I used a Topaz Adjust and Topaz Glow filters to sharpen the flower. I also applied a Nik Pro Contrast filter to enhance the details. Finally, I painted in a Topaz Impression filter for the background, and added the Helvetica Neue text.

May we all be encouraged by this little yellow flower to lift up our souls to the Lord. He is faithful and He will answer every cry of our heart.

Enjoy!

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
