Trusting ~ Names Of God AQTE OLS — Week Seven

Have you learned to be still and know your God?

One of the greatest lessons we learn from looking at the life of Jesus is His intimacy with the Father.

He took time to be alone in prayer, pouring out His heart to the Father.

In Mark 1:35 we learn that “in the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.”

Time alone with God is such a secret to knowing and trusting Him more.

You can’t trust what you don’t know. And you can’t know a person without spending time with them.

Everything in our world clamors for attention. Time alone with God involves intention and a resolute heart to draw near to Him.

I love the words of Tozer this week —

May not the inadequacy of much of our spiritual experience be traced back to our habit of skipping through the corridors of the Kingdom like children through the market place, chattering about everything, but pausing to learn the true value of nothing.
A.W. Tozer

I pray that we will be the ones to step away from the clamoring crowd, grab our Bibles, and draw near to God.

There is only one more week of study in Trusting in the Names of God — A Quiet Time Experience. May you draw near to your Lord and know Him more intimately this week.

As always, I want you to know that my prayer and my goal for all of us is found in Psalm 9:10 —

And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Psalm 9:10

Lord, we pray now that we will know Your names and put our trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God bless you, dear friend, and may you be filled with trust as you discover who God is, what God says, and what God does in His names.

About Our Study

Your Assignment

Your assignment this next week is to study Week 8, Days 1-6, Behold His Beauty With The Disciples Who Walked With God. At the end of Week Eight, you may also want to enjoy the companion Week Eight message for Trusting In The Names Of God (Viewer Guide, pp275-276) — Living In The Light Of His Glory – Digital M4V Video or Living In The Light Of His Glory – Digital MP3 Audio. In our eighth and final week of study we are going to see firsthand what it must have been like for those first century disciples to walk with Jesus. They saw Him, walked with Him and beheld His glory. I will meet you back here with a final post and discussion questions on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

♥ God bless you as you continue this great adventure of knowing Him!

Trusting In The Names Of God: A Quiet Time Experience by Catherine Martin … Individuals, casual groups of friends, church congregations, and even families looking for a meaningful daily devotion will all find this book and its discussion questions a compelling invitation to wholeheartedly seek God and trust in His every name., Online Resource Library, Book Previews
Catherine Martin has produced this piquant, pointed, and challenging subject in two books [A 30-Day Journey & A Quiet Time Experience], both of which will help you in special ways to come closer to your Lord. Both these books intrigued, delighted, and challenged me. I met tried and true ideas with new emphases which drew me into closer communion with God. It is well worth reading both books. They accent the subject differently, building on each other. Individual readers and groups will find these books valuable. Trusting in the Names of God also make a good set of reference books.
Donna Eggett,
I highly recommend this book as well as the other one she has compiled on the names of God. This one is unique with the photography & the quotes from so many great theologians & scholars like Tozer & Spurgeon.
