You Are Meant For God

What is life all about?

Does God have a purpose for my life?

When you open the pages of your Bible, you discover the answers to these great questions of life.

You are meant for more than you even realize.

Augustine of Hippo, an early Christian theologian and philosopher, wrote in his Confessions, “You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless, until they find their rest in you.”

How did Augustine come to such a conclusion about life? Because it is exactly what God has revealed to us in His Word.

God says, “I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God” (Jeremiah 24:7 NIV).

The desire of God’s heart is seen in Psalm 46:10 when He says, “Be still and know that I am God.”

In James 4:8, we are given the powerful promise, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

J.I. Packer writes —

What were we made for? To know God. What aim should we set ourselves in life? To know God. What is the ‘eternal life’ that Jesus gives? Knowledge of God. “This is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3). What is the best thing in life, bringing more joy,
delight, and contentment, and than anything else? Knowledge of God
J.I. Packer in Knowing God

Dear friend, have you discovered that you are meant for more than all the world can ever offer? You are meant for God. To know Him. To love Him. To live with Him forever. He sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for your sins, that you might be forgiven and inherit eternal life.

Believe it. Receive it. Live it.

So today, take some time and draw near to God. Focus on the Lord, knowing you are created for an intimate relationship with Him.

And to help you draw near to God to know and love Him more, and to experience His love, look for a new quiet time study written by me to be released by Quiet Time Ministries in the Fall, 2017 — One Holy Passion — A Sacred Journey In Exodus To God’s Amazing Love.
