One Holy Passion OLS — Week Six
My husband and I were on a myPhotoWalk adventure in Sedona, AZ to capture photography for a new full–color daily devotional book, myPhotoWalk – Quiet Time Moments, eventually released in January, 2016. We had already completed photo shoots at Glacier, Zion, & Bryce National Parks, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, Hawaii, Tuscany, Klamath Falls, Newport Beach, San Francisco, Santa Fe, East and West Seacoasts, and the Mojave–Sonoran Deserts. Sedona was our last stop. We wanted only the best images for the Catherine Martin — SmugMug Portfolio.
We had just taken the turn off I-17 toward the Village of Oak Creek. Winding our way, we began to see the distant red rock formations. Bright sun washed the mountains between rolling gray-black clouds. A thunderstorm was brewing. Suddenly, the sunlight lit up Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock in a way I had not seen in all my many trips to Sedona. This was a photographer’s great opportunity — “take the shot when you see it.”
We screeched to halt at the Red Rock Visitor Center on Hwy 179, and I leaped from the car with my camera and tripod to capture this once–in–a–lifetime view with spectacular light. I probably captured at least 200 shots. I remarked to my husband, “Those are probably going to be the best shots we will get all week!” I was right. The light was just magnificent in contrast with the black clouds of the impending storm. We had many other great photographic opportunities on that trip, but the light that first day was incomparable.
There are moments in our life when our time with God is so glorious that we seem to be standing on holy ground. I want to encourage you to cultivate your quiet time alone with God so that you will catch glimpses of spectacular views with your Lord. Knowing Him is the greatest pursuit in all of life.
In our sixth week of study in One Holy Passion, we had the opportunity to experience God with Moses, and behold His glory in new ways through worship, with covenant, on Mount Sinai, in the sanctuary, and with offerings. This week was extensive in study and powerful in depth of spiritual truth. I want to encourage you to schedule extra time to live in these passages of Scripture and drink in all that the Lord has for you.
One word that stood out to me as I lived in God’s Word was “forever.” I seemed to see it everywhere, especially in the Hebrews passages in Day 2. Jesus lives forever, His priesthood is forever, He saves us forever, He intercedes for us forever, and secured our redemption forever (Hebrews 7:22-27, 9:11-22). Forever is a big word because that means nothing can change what the Lord Jesus has done for us or our position in Him that lasts forever.
Selah — pause and think of that!
Then, my very favorite quote was by Andrew Murray in Day 3, Yield Yourself To God, and it truly describes my pursuit, purpose and passion in life —
I find myself filled with a wholehearted passion to draw near to God and gaze on His beauty. I love Him more today than when I began this study of One Holy Passion, and I trust the same is true for you.
So dear friend, what are you learning on this sacred journey? Do you sense that we are truly standing on holy ground as we are living in Exodus and seeing the passion of our great and glorious God?
Be sure to share what God is teaching you as you have lived in His Word in Week 6 in our One Holy Passion study. You can write your thoughts in the Comments section of this post.
And now, let’s continue on in this sacred journey of One Holy Passion. We have two more weeks together in this study!
♥ God bless you as you continue this great adventure of knowing Him!
In this sixth week of study, you are now experiencing God and catching a glimpse of His heart of love and compassion as you journey with Moses and the people of Israel. We had the opportunity to experience God with Moses, and behold His glory in new ways through worship, with covenant, on Mount Sinai, in the sanctuary, and with offerings. How did this week of study encourage you to know and love God more? What day of study meant the most to you this week and why? What was your favorite quote, insight, or verse? How has God revealed Himself to you this week? What is God teaching you?
Your assignment this next week is to study Week 7, Days 1-7, Journey to the Heart of God from One Holy Passion — A Sacred Journey in Exodus to God’s Amazing Love. At the end of Week Seven, you may also want to enjoy the companion Week Seven message for One Holy Passion (Viewer Guide, pp253-254) — Let Me Know Your Ways – Digital M4V Video or Let Me Know Your Ways – Digital MP3 Audio. In our seventh week of study as we continue this sacred journey with the Lord, we are going to draw closer to our God and see Him as we have never seen Him before. Once again, we are going to climb with Moses up to Mt. Sinai and see what happens as he prays, “Show me Your glory” (Exodus 33:18). I will meet you back here with a new post and discussion question on Saturday, December 9, 2017.

Getting The Most Out Of Your Study
Grab your Bible and One Holy Passion and draw near to the Lord. Give yourself lots of time with the Lord. And make it a special time just for you and your Lord. You may want to set out your quiet time basket and fill it with quiet time materials including colored pencils, micron pens, devotionals, your Bible, One Holy Passion, and your journal or notebook. If you have extra time, you may want to create an art journal and make pages of collage and art with all that you are learning. You may want to take extra time to write in The Quiet Time Journal or The Quiet Time Notebook. If I ever find myself rushing in my quiet time with the Lord, then I always stop, take a deep breath, and remember God’s invitation, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). I’m excited to be able to share this journey with you over the next 8 weeks. I want all of us to keep an eye and ear open for what God has to say to us as we live in His Word. And then, let’s be open and willing to share what God teaches us. And let’s pray for one another.

It is one thing to talk about the greatness of God’s love, but quite another to experience His love firsthand in your own life. Spending quality quiet time in Exodus is the key; God is going to transform you by changing the way you think. Through my own sacred journey in Exodus, I experienced a divine rescue at the Red Sea Place, and I found the way through and the way out. God rescues us so we can know, love, and serve Him. Oh yes, God is greater than anything you are experiencing right now. And He loves you with passion, power, and purpose. One holy passion.
