Delicate Beauty

How is your heart these days?

Is it soft and tender or hard and dry?

I like to think of the heart as having the delicate beauty of a rose, open and receptive to the touch of the Lord Jesus as He pours out His mercy, grace and love.

The Lord told Samuel how He sees when He was choosing David, the man after God’s own heart: “The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7 NLT).

God is most interested in your heart.

He sees all the way into the very depths of your heart today. He knows if you are brokenhearted and crushed, or bitter and discouraged. And dear friend, He cares very much about you. In Psalm 34:18 we learn that “the LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Jeremiah was conscious of God seeing his heart. In Jeremiah 17:10, God said, “I, the LORD, search the heart and examine the mind.” Jeremiah said to the Lord, “LORD, You know my heart” (Jeremiah 12:3).

Do you realize that God knows your heart? He sees into it every moment of the day. The heart is so important as you live your life. Proverbs 4:23 teaches us how to manage our heart. “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

Jesus taught us to pay attention to our hearts in His parable of the sower and the seed in Matthew 13. He described different types of soil and ground. Some were hard, rocky and filled with weeds and unable to receive and retain the seed. But then He described fertile soil in the heart and how it is able to hear and understand the Word. Then, a fruitful harvest is produced.

Delicate, beautiful hearts able to receive God’s Word result in much fruit.

Paul shows us how the Lord works in our lives to touch others —

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.
2 Corinthians 2:14-17

We need to remember that hearts have a delicate beauty about them, especially as we meet and speak with others. Let’s learn to see as the Lord does, and give mercy, grace, and love to others. You will be amazed how people will respond, just like this soft rose, and open up to the Lord with a delicate beauty, receiving His touch in their own lives.

So today, dear friend, remember that God sees all the way into your heart. Slow down and take time to receive all He says to you in His Word. You will experience the nearness of God and reflect His beauty to everyone.

God bless you.

Dear Lord, thank You that you see all the way into our hearts. Help us to see as You see and realize that the heart is a thing of delicate beauty. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
