Sometimes darkness precedes the dawn. Even the psalmist said, “Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5. David experienced the other side of darkness and praised God, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness” (Psalm 30:11). As time nears the end, and evil is utterly crushed, there will be a dark time known as the great tribulation. And on the other side of that dark time, is the beautiful light of the New Jerusalem, eternity, heaven, and the face to face experience of God Himself.
In Week 7, Days 1-3 of A Heart To See Forever, “The Prelude to Eternity,” we studied Revelation 13-16. In these chapters, we read about two figures who will be servants of Satan — the antichrist described as the beast from the sea and the false prophet described as the beast from the earth. These two tools of Satan will be evil and blasphemous and carry out the bidding of the enemy. But their time is short — three and a half years. The boundaries of their evil actions cannot be crossed for God has already told us their end. They, along with Satan, will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20-21, 20:10). In our study we saw that evil is judged and those who are saved by Christ are blessed.
In times of darkness, we must remember the light of the Lord Jesus Christ and our blessed hope. Jesus is coming again. Time really is short and eternity is forever. We must stand firm, resist the enemy and run our race with patient endurance. Endurance is “the ability to bear things with blazing hope rather than with a passive indifference.” What will help us endure? I believe three things — quiet time with God in His Word and in prayer, walking by faith, and fellowship and accountability with mature believers. And then, above all, we truly need to rely on God’s power and strength through the Holy Spirit. I loved these encouraging words by Spurgeon this week in Day 1 of Week 7 in A Heart To See Forever this week:
Although tribulation is thus the path of God’s children, they have the comfort of knowing that their Master has traversed it before them; they have his presence and sympathy to cheer them, his grace to support them, and his example to teach them how to endure; and when they reach the kingdom, it will more than makes amends for the much tribulation through which they passed to enter it.
Dear friend, remember the dawning of a new day. The light is shining just below the horizon. Joy really does come in the morning. Revelation 19-22 are just around the corner and oh what glory it will be when we are face to face with our Lord. That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever (Psalm 30:12).
When you finish Week 7, Days 1-3, think about all you have learned this week in Revelation. How does what you’ve studied motivate you to share the gospel of Christ with others, serve the Lord faithfully, and give your time, talents, and treasure for His glory? Share all that God is teaching you here in the Comments section of this blog post. What was your favorite verse, quote, thought or insight?

Catherine, Love your photos…I used to work at Carsey-Werner TV production…such shows as 3rd Rock from The Sun, That 70’s Show, Cybil, Crosby, Roseanne and others…I was the assistant to Garvin Eddy-Designer and won an Emmy for Cybil….Love decorating but now my favorite time in my later years is your Bible Study, photography, and table decor settings…I don’t require having to do decorating homes or show business anymore since my 2 times with cancer…now I love working and helping Seniors in their walk with our Lord and enjoying life with Tom. I’m at peace. Just to let you know I have bought everything for our 2 tables for our March 1st garden luncheon…so you don’t have to think about it OK..it’s done…also for the last 3 weeks they took me off the web to record who was in our class on Thursday…I hope someone is doing that for you…I tried…Blessings.
