Christmas. A time for joy and worship, friends and fellowship, love and peace. A Savior has been born for us and it is good news of great joy (Luke 2:10-11). His name is Jesus. Knowing Jesus changes everything for us, no matter how many difficulties come our way. There is never a time in our lives when we don’t have hope. Once we know Jesus, some things are forever settled. Our sins (past, present, and future sins) are forgiven. Our future in eternity is secure and we will spend forever with Him. Oh there is such incredible hope in Jesus. Oh how the cleansing, refreshing waters of His Spirit flow into every crevice of our hearts and life. Every day is a new day with the Lord.

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 7:37-39 NASB

For us, life is truly Christmas every day. In C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, the story begins with a land where it was always winter, but never Christmas. When Aslan, the true king, arrived and began His work in the land, the snow began to melt. Christmas had come. Oh how this is true for us. Before we know Christ, it is as though we are experiencing winter, but not Christmas. Then, we enter into a relationship with Jesus and experience the beauty and freedom of forgiveness and eternal life. Christmas has begun for us as we grow in our intimate relationship with the Lord and receive His blessed gifts, day after day.

This Christmas may you know this great truth: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6 NIV).
