Christmas Blessings

Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year.

When I was a child, I looked forward to Christmas morning. It was a magical time for our family as we all opened dozens of presents. Christmas is different for me now. I am much more aware of the meaning of Christmas.

Mary is my great example. She gave birth to Jesus, saw shepherds worship, and heard about a great company of heavenly host appearing with the angels, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests” (Luke 2:13-14).

How did she respond?

But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.
Luke 2:19 NASB

I am treasuring so much these days and looking for God’s blessings even when fog and clouds roll in on the landscape of my life.

This year 2013 we finished The Quiet Time Notebooks Publishing Project for Quiet Time Ministries by publishing The Quiet Time Journal, The Quiet Time Notebook, The Devotional Bible Study Notebook, and The Passionate Prayer Notebook, all with cover and interior photography I contributed from the new myPhotoWalk ministry. I spoke and taught A Heart on Fire and I’m currently teaching Pilgrimage of the Heart, both books of quiet times I’ve had the privilege to write. I had the opportunity to speak to hundreds of women including a Valleywide Women’s Revival Gathering in Klamath Falls, Oregon, for The Speaking Ministry. I also attended a His Light Photography Workshop at Glacier National Park, Montana, and was honored to shoot photography with the legendary Nikon photographer, Bill Fortney and beloved pastor and author, Dr. Charles Stanley.

I think about all these blessings and I am thankful. Blessings are all part of my Thanksgiving to God.

I also experienced the loss of my beloved father, Robert Snyder, and my dear mentor for Quiet Time Ministries, Shirley Peters. The day my father went home to be with the Lord, I received a devotional in my email entitled “To Die is Gain.” God reminded me that my loss truly is heaven’s gain and that my father is no longer in pain and is face to face with Jesus. And I will see him again someday when I step into heaven. That promise from God’s Word gives me tremendous hope in the midst of sorrow as I miss my dear father and also my friend, Shirley. Promises from God become incredible blessings for us because they bring hope to our hearts.

I pray that you will take a few moments and thank the Lord for your own Christmas blessings.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
