When You Need To Stand Strong

Do you find your strength wavering in the storm just now? Do you need power to stand strong in the face of your impossible situation? What can you do to remain steadfast in the trouble?

Dear friend, sink your roots deep into God and His promises. Find that living water that feeds your soul in spite of the strain you are experiencing. I say this from both personal experience and the trustworthiness of what God says in His Word. According to God’s Word, we are to be like trees, planted by streams of water that sink their roots deep into the life-giving stream from the Lord (Jeremiah 17:8). When we are planted in the Lord, with roots that go deep, we will “not fear when the heat comes,” our leaves are “always green,” we will have “no worries in a year of drought,” and we will never fail to “bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:9). What amazing promises for today.

So how can you sink your roots deep when trouble is all around you?

How can you find hope when there is seemingly no hope?

You are faced with the impossible. Let me define impossibles, since I seem to be so familiar with them in my own life. Impossible means no earthly answer and seemingly no one to help. Ever experienced that kind of impossible? The Bible is filled with them. King Hezekiah faced with threats from a powerful enemy. Moses being told to cross the Red Sea. Ruth and Naomi with no one to help them. Abraham and Sarah promised a child but are now very old, well past childbearing years. David going out to kill a giant who terrorized King Saul and all of his army. How about Mary being told, as a virgin, that she will bear a child. Peter is in jail with no hope of release. All of these were impossibles for those involved. All of these servants of the Lord believed God for something beyond themselves because their roots were planted in God and His Word. They believed promises like God is a God of deliverances (Psalm 68:20).

No word from God will ever fail.
Luke 1:37

So grab a promise today, sink your roots deep into God and His Word, stand strong, and watch for God’s work in and around you. And when you see His impossible weave its way into the story of your life, you will stand that much taller for His glory, like a majestic tree reaching to the sky.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
