The Process Of Growth

I have been thinking lately about how spiritual growth is a process, a journey, and doesn’t happen all at once. And sometimes I become quite impatient in the process. I think I’ve become so used to the fast microwave results in this world, that I expect life transformation to happen the same way. God is at work in me in His time and in His way. That’s a promise and I’m comforted by it.

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6 NIV

Don’t you just love those words today.

I was out shooting some photos in Sedona, Arizona, and saw this tree, strong and green, growing in the middle of the red dirt and rock. We are often likened to a tree in Scripture. God tells the blessed man that when he delights in the law of the LORD, and meditates on it day and night, he is “like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither” (Psalm 1:2-3). Here we see that growth is a process, and fruit will come in the right season. God’s timing is perfect, and we can rest in Him today, knowing He is producing the kind of fruit that lasts forever (John 15:16).

What’s the secret in this process of growth? Abiding in Christ. We need to stay close to Him, walk with Him, live in Him, and commune with Him. He has said, “Apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

So today, remember growth is a process, and the Lord is in charge of the harvest. May you continue to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
