Pilgrimage OLS — Week Seven #1
How is your faith these days?
It’s an important question because of all that our faith means to God.
According to Hebrews 11:6:
Faith is always strengthened by knowing the character of God and the ways of God. The more you live in God’s Word, the more you will know your God and His ways. You will see again and again that God responds when we seek Him. In fact, He does immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to the power that is at work in us (Ephesians 3:20).
Sometimes in life, the here and now is so much in our face so to speak, that we just can’t see beyond it. Our perspective is limited only to the temporal and we miss God’s eternal perspective. To see His perspective changes our understanding and ultimately gives us a new firm foundation for our faith. For example, when we realize that God promises to help us as seen in Isaiah 41:10, then we need not give in to the raging fears flooding our heart and mind. Instead, we can cry out to God and pray for His comfort, help, and mercy. When we realize how much He loves us, then we need not worry. Instead, we can trust His compassion and grace at work on our behalf.
This week we studied Days 1-3 of The Faith of the Pilgrim in Pilgrimage of the Heart in Psalm 73. We learned that “Faith in God and His Word makes the unseen world visible to your spiritual eyes of faith” just like the majestic sun appears in all its glory behind this row of trees in the foreground of this landscape. The most powerful part of Psalm 73 for me was the dramatic change that happened in the life of the psalmist when he made the choice to enter the sanctuary of God. Oh how our perspective changes and our faith grows when we step away from the noise and busyness of life and draw near to God in His Word.
I loved the words of Hannah Whitall Smith this week:
Your assignment this next week in Pilgrimage of the Heart is Week 7, Days 4-7, The Faith of the Pilgrim.
♥ God bless you as you continue this great adventure of knowing Him!
What is God teaching you as you have been living in Psalm 73 in Week 7, Days 1-3 of Pilgrimage of the Heart?
