Speaking Grace — Cannon Beach OR
On the weekend of September 30, 2011 – October 2, 2011, I had the amazing privilege to speak at the Fall, 2011, Women’s Conference at the famed Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center, Cannon Beach, Oregon. Of course, Cannon Beach Conference Center is located on the beautiful Oregon coast, the waves glistening against the sunlight as they crash ashore, the seagulls announcing their arrival, and friends and families alike enjoying the spectacular scenery. Not to be outdone, the conference itself was a great success. Almost 300 women gathered from many surrounding states and dozens of churches to be encouraged in God’s Word, enjoy the beautiful coastal atmosphere, and fellowship with one another. Indeed, there is something very special about this place! I have so loved the conferences I have had the privilege to teach there in the past. This present one is etched in my memory as perhaps the best of all.
I chose to spend the whole weekend conference focusing on Grace. And I’m so glad I did. What a blessing! Oh, how we need grace. Every day we need grace because of sin, suffering, spiritual growth, and so much more.
My Grace speaking messages included —
- Grace When You Need It Most
- Grace When You Need A New Day
- Grace When You Need Jesus
- Grace When You Need To Dream Big
The women were also given a companion quiet time I had written to draw near to the Lord on their own time. If the evening feedback was any indication, everyone seemed to enjoy the quiet time a great deal.
Here are some of the key verses from weekend that none of us will ever forget —
“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you” (1 Peter 5:10).
“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed” (2 Corinthians 9:8).
“Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19).
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).
I hope you’ll take some time with these verses. They’re absolutely life-changing and formed the foundation for my book, A Woman’s Walk in Grace, published by Harvest House Publishers. If you would really like to drink in the whole atmosphere of grace for awhile, I invite you to get that book and the companion study guide. You might even want to gather a group of your friends and take the journey together. By the way, we’re planning a whole series of companion DVD videos on grace in the near future.
I also had the rare opportunity to have some of my best and dearest friends with me — Julie Airis and Kelly Abeyratne. Julie is a frequent and beloved contributor to Enriching Your Quiet Time Quarterly Magazine; Kelly’s inspirational prayer sessions at many of our Women of Revival events are legendary. These two SWOGs (Super Women of God) are prayer warriors and their prayers were a great encouragement and support for all of us at the conference. Having such dear friends makes me look forward to heaven when there are no goodbyes, and we have eternal fellowship with our Lord, our friends, and our family.
Weekends like our time at Cannon Beach are investments in the things that last forever — people and God’s Word. I count it a great privilege to teach the Word of God to so many women who love the Lord. To God be the glory!
If you’ve never visited Cannon Beach, Oregon, you know these weekends are ones you do not want to miss. And if you have been fortunate enough to visit Cannon Beach in the past, then you know it is unlike any other place on God’s beautiful earth. Since 1945, Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center has been a place of spiritual refreshment and renewal for those seeking to re-connect with what is truly important in life. Their mission is to provide a setting where God can touch the lives of their guests in powerful, life-changing ways. The Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center is located on the spectacular north Oregon coast, 75 miles NW of Portland in the beautiful resort town of Cannon Beach, recently named the seventh best beach in the nation. Founded in 1945, the Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center has grown from humble beginnings to its place as one of the premier Christian retreat and conference centers on the West Coast.
This was Catherine’s second speaking engagement at The Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center, the first in October, 2006, when she spoke on A Heart That Dances on the heels of the successful release of her signature work, Six Secrets To A Powerful Quiet Time, by Harvest House Publishers. This conference proved to be another exciting event with Catherine sharing on a variety of biblical topics dear to women, in general, and women in ministry, in particular.
Great thanks to the wonderful team from Cannon Beach Conference Center, Cannon Beach, Oregon, for inviting me and putting on this terrific event.
♥ God bless you in the great adventure of knowing Him!
