Forever OLS — Week Eight #2

How is your ability to hope these days? Do you find your heart sinking with despair and disappointment under the weight of difficult, seemingly impossible circumstances? I invite you to stop everything and look in a new direction. UP. Look up, not sideways, down, or around. You have something to hope for that is well beyond the crushing weight of temporal things.

In Part 2, Week 8, Days 4-7 of A Heart To See Forever, The Hope of Eternity, we studied the battle of Armageddon in Revelation 19 and then the millennial reign in Revelation 20. In these two events alone we two powerful truths that help us when the winds of trials bring storms our way. Jesus is Victor. He is greater and stronger than any enemy you will ever face. He is our dread champion (Jeremiah 20:11) and He can handle every trouble. He knows answers that have not even entered our minds. Those things that bring instant anxiety in our souls are no match for the mighty power of Jesus. Jesus is never worried. He does not get anxious. Find hope and comfort in Him as the divine handler of your hurts. Then, Jesus is King. He rules and reigns. No authority on this earth, no evil power can prevail against the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And we who overcome through His power will reign and rule with Him.

Friend, just remember your trials are brief and momentary. That’s what Paul learned when he said, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” (2 Corinthians 4:17). I think we all need to memorize that verse and quote it at least once a day! Oh what a powerful truth. Then, Paul goes on to preach the eternal perspective. He says, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” May the Lord give us hearts that can look at the unseen, eternal things. May He give us hearts to see forever.

In every generation there are those rare men and women who have walked the unpopulated road where there is purpose in their step even though they are little understood by those around them. The odds are always against them and yet they go on. They seem to march to an invisible band playing a tune only they can hear. they follow a map which is clear to them and head toward a destination they cannot see. These are the hearts that can see forever. These are the ones that have that rare quality called hope.

Oh, I loved those words this week! My prayer for all of us is that we will be the ones who have the hearts that look up, beyond the things of this world, all the way to forever. Always remember — someday soon your faith will be sight!

♥ God bless you as you continue this great adventure of knowing Him!

When you finish Week 8, Days 4-7, think about all you have learned this week in Revelation 19. How does what you’ve studied give you hope? How is God using this study to help you have a heart to see forever?

Luke 5:16 NASB — But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
A Heart To See Forever has been an incredible study. … God has given me so much to ponder and the time to meander through His Word. … I find that Catherine’s studies are so thought-provoking and give me the opportunity to spend time with the Lord in ways that I have never done before. There are so many places within each day’s session where I can stop, ponder, pray, journal and return to or go on ahead. For the first time, I actually want to do a study over again.

A Heart to See Forever was my first real Bible study. Studying the revelation of the glorious new heaven and new earth motivated me to turn back to Genesis and begin an in depth study from there. With this perspective, I can see every book [of the Bible] through the lens of eternity.
