A Heart On Fire OLS — Week One
Would you like to meet with Jesus today?
You can, by grabbing the Bible and spending some time living in God’s Word. When you open the pages of the Bible, you are embarking on an adventure of epic proportions. For it is in God’s Word that we hear the Lord speak. And you can know that He has a purpose in all that He says to you.
Oh what a powerful promise this is for you today. The Lord wants to refresh your heart and feed your soul with His Word. Will you meet with Him there?
As we begin our online study of A Heart On Fire, in Week One, we studied what it means to have a heart on fire. And we saw how the Lord met those two men on the road to Emmaus, opened the Scripture to them, and set their hearts on fire. What a powerful week of study we had in God’s Word. And I know that as you lived in the Word and thought through each passage of Scripture, there were certain verses that were significant to you. You can know that the Lord is speaking to you in His Word. As you studied, you were encouraged to take a Prayer page and write out some of your prayer requests to the Lord. I encourage you to take time for these prayers because you will want to return and see how the Lord has answered in amazing and miraculous ways.
In Week One, Donald Barnhouse shared about his visit with Amy Carmichael at her mission station in India. He described the custom of pasing at the striking of the hour to focus on Christ for a brief moment. Then he encouraged us to fill our Christian life with chimes somewhere during the day, “to stop the earthly activities while we listen to the heavenly peal, think upon the Savior a moment, talk directly to Him, listen to His voice in some verse that He will recall to mind, and then step into the work and the activity of the moment.” I wonder how each of us could apply this in our own lives? Certainly, our quiet times are a way to stop everything and turn to the Lord. May the Lord continue to guide each of us and draw us ever nearer to Him.
Please know that I am praying for all of us that the Lord will set our hearts on fire as we draw near to Him. It is a joy to study together with you.
Your assignment this week is the Week 2, Days 1-3 in A Heart On Fire.
♥ God bless you as you continue this great adventure of knowing Him!
In our discussion today, I would love for all of us to share the answers to these questions: Describe what it means to have a heart on fire and what happens as a result. What part of your study this week caused your heart to burn and what is God teaching you?
