A New Vision

Vision.

Some have it and some don’t. Some can see beyond the present circumstance and others can’t.

Vision is the companion to faith. Faith is fueled by the promises in God’s Word and results in hope and trust. When those same promises ignite one’s faith, the resulting vision brings about an endurance enabling one to keep going and not give up. You can see all the way to forever, knowing that God is at work even if you can’t see it with your physical eyes.

One of the great Song of Ascents psalms puts it this way,

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains. From where shall my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2

You see, the psalmist didn’t see a way out with the horizontal view. So he had to take the vertical view and look beyond the circumstance. Then he obtained real vision that enabled him to go on. He saw the help that he couldn’t see before. A real help that works in impossible situations. Help in the Lord, who made heaven and earth. If God can create the heaven and the earth, making something out of nothing, then all things are possible in my impossibles.

The disciples asked Jesus how salvation could ever be possible if it was easier for a came to got through the eye of a needle than a rich man entering the kingdom of God. Jesus replied, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

When I get discouraged, I become blind to these truths. That’s when I grab my Bible and begin reading promise after promise, especially in the Psalms. All of a sudden, my vision is restored and I see God anew – His person, ways, works, and words. And I trust in a new and deeper way. And my faith becomes sight, as I see God work in the impossibles of life.

So today, dear friend, what’s your impossible?

Have you lifted your eyes and gained a new faith and a new vision?

Look beyond your circumstance to God – His person, ways, works and words. You will see as you have never seen before. And then you will experience a new endurance and stand strong in the Lord as He carries you through and beyond the present situation to a new place in your journey with Him.
