Abide In Christ

Where are you living these days?

Are you preoccupied with circumstances?

I want to encourage you today to have a moving day — moving from the earthly view to the heavenly perspective and fix your eyes steadfastly on Jesus.

Jesus Himself encourages us to remain in Him, stay close to Him, and, in fact follow Him. He likens our relationship with Him to a vine and branches. He is the vine. We are the branches.

When I think of branches, I think of this tree that I see almost every day. I love it especially for the beauty and intricacy of the branches. Each branch is different, and together they make this one beautiful tree. But the branches could never exist on their own without the trunk and roots of the tree. They would have no support, no sustenance, now growth, and would wither.

I love the words of Jesus in John as He describes our relationship with Him.

… I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
John 15:5

This last words ring loud and clear. Apart from Me you can do nothing. That means there is not one single thing we are expected to do on our own. There’s a responsibility and a freedom in those wonderful words. First, we must stay close to Jesus and rely on Him for everything. That’s a responsibility entrusted to us that we accomplish through the power of the Holy Spirit. But then there is also a freedom as we have the joy of knowing He is always with us, giving us strength and power for everything in life. He is everything we need for every circumstance of life.

So today, dear friend, remember these words of Jesus, abide in Him, and draw near, trusting Him for everything in your life.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
