The Sunrise From On High

Do you need a sunrise in your life today?

I vividly remember a particular morning many years ago, sitting in my family room just as the sun was just rising. Perhaps it was the time of year, or just the angle the sunlight came through the windows. I don’t know. But the sudden brilliance of the white light that flashed in through the windows that morning, along with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, prompted me to pray, “Lord I ask that you would give me a sunrise in my life today, and light up my heart and soul.”

Well, the Lord answers prayers — and very quickly sometimes.

Wouldn’t you know it! The passage of Scripture in my quiet time that morning was in Luke, the words of Zacharias —

… Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people. … because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on high will visit us, to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Luke 1:67-79

How about that? Will He visit you and guide your feet into the way of peace? God is true to His Word!

So take heart, dear friend, for Jesus is the Sunrise from on high and He will bring light to every darkness, even the the shadow of death.

Whether you are experiencing a deep trial or a great loss, you can run to Jesus today. He invites you to come to Him and promises that He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Oh how deep and wide and infinite is the compassion of your Lord, the light of the world, who can bring brilliant beauty and color to any difficulty in your life.

A photographer’s dream, I was recently blessed to be at Glacier National Park, Montana, at this beautiful area called Many Glacier, patiently waiting for the glow. You know the glow. That’s the supernatural flood of early light as the sun begins to rise enveloping all of the landscape in spectacular rainbow of colors and contrasts. My heart never ceases to thrill at the way the appearance of the sun brings color to the clouds and mountains. I was not disappointed at Many Glacier, and so it is true with your life. The presence and person of Jesus brings glory and majesty to every situation in life, even the impossible.

So today, may you draw near to Jesus — the Sunrise from on high — and experience His joy, comfort, and peace.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
