Quiet Waters

Quiet waters are prepared for you today.

In the midst of a busy life and many responsibilities, remember there is a place of quiet just waiting for you.

You need this place. Your heart and soul require it. It’s the oasis for your soul.

The place where you just lay everything down, kick off your shoes, lean back and look at the sky.

While I was on Bill Fortney’s fantastic His Light Workshops PhotoShoot in Glacier National Park, Montana, I drove away from the group and stopped by the side of the road to take some photographs of a grove of trees that caught my eye. I walked over to the edge of the road and looked through the trees and saw this beautiful pool of clear blue water.

Oh how inviting it was to me. The quiet waters. I needed refreshment of the soul that day and God provided for the longing of my heart.

Listen to the words of David, the man after God’s own heart.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm 23:1-6

Always remember the wonderful promise that the Lord is your shepherd. He will lead you beside the quiet waters. And those waters will restore your soul.

Where can you find the quiet waters of the Lord? They flow from God Himself and they can be discovered and experienced in His Word filled with promises that pour out a life-giving flow of water from the fountain of living waters. Ephesians 5:26 speaks of being cleansed by the washing of the water with the word. I have found that when I stop everything, open the Word, and live in a portion of it, I experience the refreshment of time alone with Jesus. I love to write His words in my journal. I memorize my favorite verses. And I read about those verses in a study Bible or even a one volume commentary.

The more I live with God in His Word, the more it washes through my heart and soul. Oh how beautiful are the quiet waters of the Lord where He leads and guides me.

So today, dear friend, take time to step away from everything, draw near to God, kick off your shoes, and drink in the beauty and stillness of the quiet waters.

♥ Blessings and Grace to You!
