My Rock And My Salvation
Are you in need of some security and assurance just now?
Maybe everything you had hoped for and desired seems like nothing more than a pipe dream.
You need to know that God is your rock, your salvation, and your strength in a time of trouble.
David, the man after God’s own heart, discovered the deliverance of the Lord in a time when he was encompassed by the threat of death and destruction.
In Psalm 18:6 David says —
Dear friend, when God hears your cries, He will come to your aid. He promises. In David’s case, he describes what God did this way: “He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters” (Psalm 18:16).
On Nikon legend Bill Fortney’s His Light Workshops Photoshoot, I was out just before sunset at Glacier National Park taking photos of magnificent views of this beautiful area of God’s creation. We were at Logan Pass, along the Continental Divide in Glacier National Park, in the U.S. state of Montana. At 6646 feet, it is the highest point on the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Reynolds Mountain and Clements Mountain tower over fields of wildflowers that carpet the ground throughout the summer, some flowers lingering into the Fall. I walked down into the meadow and came upon an unobstructed view of these majestic mountains looming large on the landscape. I couldn’t help but think of the steadfast, immovable, unchangeable character of God. He is truly my rock and my salvation.
David continues in Psalm 18 by describing the result of his trial. “The LORD was my stay. He brought me forth into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me” (Psalm 18:18-19).
When you look at this photograph of these mountains, think about the broad place of God, and His strength for you today. Cry out to Him for help, and watch and wait for His rescue in your life.
