Quiet Time Ministries is designed as a CMS – content management system – magazine style website. A Web Content Management System is content management system (CMS) software, implemented as a Web application, for creating and managing content such as XHTML, but also including multimedia and interactive modules. It is used to manage and control a large, dynamic collection of web material (XHTML documents and their associated images). HTML5 coding will add functionality with future updates.
Seven blog categories within the Wordpress database are used as the structural basis for the named menu sections of the website: quiettime.org, online store, quiettimelive.tv, speaking, the quiet time notebook™, womens ministry, and caths community. There are two databases: quiettime.org and quiettimelive.tv, thus requiring a separate selective search within quiettimelive.tv for desired items.
Comments are the lifebood of blog web design. Please keep comments relevant to the blog entry. Email addresses are never displayed, but they are required to confirm the comments. Kind, illuminating, even inspirational, comments are welcomed by Quiet Time Ministries on all text and video posts. Pleae use Scripture to back up your comments. Quiet Time Ministries reserves the right to deny or delete a posted comment for any reason at any time. Unkind comments will be deleted by the web administrator without notice. While informational hypertext links are allowed, blatant advertising links are prohibited and will be deleted.
Validation is a process of checking your documents against a formal Standard, such as those published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for HTML and XML-derived Web document types. Web design and applications involve the standards for building and rendering web pages, including HTML, CSS, SVG, Ajax, and other technologies for Web Applications (WebApps). Quiet Time Ministries endorses and attempts to follow web design processes that promote the development of high quality web content for the use and benefit of all viewers. However, the implementation of Wordpress as a CMS is less than ideal to say the least, expecially with the addition of third party applications such as JQuery, Add To Any, and third party javascript, h.264 video (Flowplayer), and many others. That the W3C Validator yields dozens of errors on each page for websites of the highest standard (Adobe, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft) contributes to the folly of perfect validation for web design amateurs in all but the least complex websites. To paraphrase W3C, this amateur web designer of Quiet Time Ministries has "taken the care to create interoperable web pages," and humbly strives to learn and improve. Hats off to my professional heroes Nick Robinson, Jason Schuller, and Michael Oeser.
