Indeed, God gave Catherine the idea for a ministry solely dedicated to teaching devotion to God and His Word in her quiet time. She asked her husband what to call it? In 1993, just after graduating from Bethel Theological Seminary, Catherine dedicated her new ministry to Jesus' entreaty to quiet time in Mark 6:31 [NASB], "Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while."

Catherine uses many Bible translations, both in her own quiet time and in composition. She prefers the New American Standard Bible, because she likes the English rendering to be as close as possible to the sense of the original Greek and Hebrew manuscripts, and because she finds the language to be excellent for memorization.
